fireproof hotels

Not so fire proof:

*The Paso Robles Hotel burns down

In December of 1940; tragedy struck...A spectacular fire completely destroyed the "fire-proof" El Paso de Robles Hotel.

*Atlanta, Georgia: Winecoff Hotel,it was advertised as a "fireproof" hotel.

Constructed of masonry, it was advertised as a "fireproof" hotel. It had a central-spiral staircase and an elevator that was under the control of an operator.

On December 7, 1946, this hotel experienced a fire so devastating that, to this day, it is considered one of the deadliest fires in North America. Of the 280 occupants, 119 died.

There's a website that keeps a detailed list of Big Hotel Fires. The site also lists:

Ship Fires
Industrial Fires
Hospital Fires
Warehouse Fires
Restaurant/Nightclub Discotheque-Fires
High Rise Fires
Airport Fires

A really bizarre interest to have.

Donald "Shadow" Rimgale:
Remember this? Remember this, Ronald? Remember who it belonged to?

Ronald Bartel:
- Mm-hmm.

Shadow: What did you do to that little girl?

Ronald: It's not fair, Shadow.

Shadow: What did you do to that little girl?

Ronald: I burned her.

Shadow: You burned her. What do you do to old ladies, Ronald?

Ronald: Burn them.

Shadow: And what about the world, Ronald? What would you like to do with the whole world?

Ronald: Burn it all.

Shadow:
See ya next year, Ronald.
