The flush toilet disapeared for almost a century & a half !? How does the world misplace that knowledge?

Thankfully, the world was blessed with visionary Alexander Cummings, who in 1775 (Is it coincidence that that same year saw the birth of a nation?), "invented the S-trap which is still used today, that used standing water to seal the outlet of the bowl, preventing the escape of foul air from the sewer."

Once when I was on a plane I got stuck near the lav. The flight attendent curled her nose as the door opened. With visible disgust, she hung a filter pack of coffee on the coat hook. A great idea but since that day I ask for hot tea.
