Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley

Army relieves Walter Reed chief of command

Joel Havemann, LA Times, 3/1/07

Weightman's superior officer, Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, commanding general of the U.S. Army Medical Command, was named to take charge temporarily of Walter Reed while the Army searches for a permanent replacement.

**3/3/07 - The LA Times issued a correction: Lt. Gen. Kiley was in command of Walter Reed from 2002-2004

Kiley, Weightman's predecessor as commander of Walter Reed, was in charge of the hospital until last summer. According to news accounts, many of the unsafe and unpleasant conditions at the hospital predated Weightman's arrival.

Since you did such a bang up job the last time you had the reins we've decided to let you try and right the ship.

Instead of being put in charge shouldn't Kiley's ability to lead the Army Medical Command be reviewed.
