mysterious produce

A cart of oranges appeared on my street a few days ago. Much like the toilet(which eventually disappeared) there was no explanation. My roommate saw the mailman grab a couple of them. Freshly squeezed juice sounds delicious but I'm left with questions.

Are they up for grabs? Should you trust them?

Did the owner just get tired of pushing the cart or is she/he a good samaritan trying to help ease the impending citrus shortage?
